A regular meeting of the Fayetteville Historic District Commission was held on October
14, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 326 in the City Administration Building at 113 W.
Mountain Street, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Lolley at 5:35
p.m.
I. Minutes
Commissioner Dowling made a motion to approve the minutes of the August 12th
meeting. Commissioner Storey seconded the motion. Upon role call the motion
passed with a vote of 4-0-0.
II. Announcements
Dara Sanders announced that the National Preservation Conference is scheduled for
the week of October 25`h and that Commissioners who have not registered to attend
may still do so and be reimbursed for travel and training related costs.
III. New Business
Walton Arts Center Expansion Proposal
Karen Minkle, Strategic Planning and Internal Consulting Director, presented a
summary of Fayetteville's response to the Request For Proposals for the Walton Arts
Center located at the corner of West Dickson Street and West Avenue. She discussed
the various development scenarios in the proposal and stated that the proposal was
intended to demonstrate that an expansion of the existing facility is feasible.
Commissioners discussed the specific buildings shown to be removed by the concept
plan in the four different scenarios and requested to be involved in the design and
development process should the proposal be accepted.
IV. Old Business
National Preservation and Arkansas Heritage Month, 2011
Commissioner Lolley discussed the background of the Commission's project for
National Preservation and Arkansas Heritage Month in May of 2011. He explained
that staff provided a list of cities for the Commission to research for local historic
preservation award programs on which to model a future preservation award program
in Fayetteville, and he suggested that the Commissioners divide the cities.
Commissioner Kalke requested a reminder email from staff.
The cities were divided as follows:
Commissioner Kalke- Ames, IA; Champaign, IL; Chapel Hill, NC; Chattanooga, TN
Commissioner Coley - Columbia, MO; Denton, TX; Iowa City, IA; Lawrence, KS
Commissioner Lolley - Lynchburg, VA; Rockbill, MD; Urbana, IL; Baltimore, MD
