A meeting of the Firemen's Pension and Relief Board was held on
Monday, July 6, 1981, at 4:30 p.m. in the City Manager's Office, City
Administration Building, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
PRESENT: Members Paul Logue, Larry Freedle, Robert Johnson, John Dill,
City Manager Grimes, and Secretary Vivian Koettel
ABSENT: Ralph Tate and Treasurer Scott Linebaugh
MINUTES
The minutes of the June 1, 1981 meeting were approved as submitted.
PENSION LIST
A motion was made, seconded, and approved unanimously to increase the
amount of Mrs, Ellis Poore's pension check from $125.00 to $250.00
effective June 17, 1981.
INVESTMENTS
Mr. Grimes stated that two investments would come due during the
months of July. One for $211,000 on July 20 and the other for $145,000
on July 27. Motion was made and seconded to authorize Mr. Linebaugh to
reinvest these at the highest rate of interest possible. The motion
passed unanimously.
ACTUARIAL STUDY
Discussion was held on the actuarial study evaluation and on the new
acts concerning fire pension that were recently passed. Mr. Grimes explained
that the only action which could be taken now would be to increase the
widow's and dependent children's benefits. Other changes could be made once
the pension was determined to be actuarially sound.
A motion was made, seconded, and carried that the widow's benefits be
increased to a minimum of $250.00.
NEW BUSINESS
Chief Logue presented a.letter of resignation from John Howard stating
he was resigning effective 8-2-81 and would like to draw his funds from the
Pension Fund.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
