MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE FIREMEN'S PENSION AND RELIEF BOARD
PRESENT: Chairman Don Grimes, Treasurer Pat Tobin, Secretary Darlene Westbrook

Dennis Ledbetter

The Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund Board met June 5, 1978, 4:30 p.m., in the
City Manager's office. The meeting; was called to order by the Chairman.
Chief Logue introduced new Board members Larry Freedle and Dennis Ledbetter who
were elected in May to replace Marion Doss and Dennis Mullens. They will serve
a two-year term.
Minutes of the May 1 meeting were approved with one minor correction.
Chief Logue reported that Hugh E. Barnes had deceased on May 21, 1978 and that
his widow, Essie E. Barnes, would be eligible to receive $35.00 per month survivor
benefits. Troy Schader, seconded by Chief Logue, moved Mrs. Barnes be allowed
$35.00 per month survivor benefits. The motion carried unanimously.
Troy Schader, seconded by Chief Logue, moved the pension list, with the addition
of Mrs. Barnes, be approved for the month of June. The motion carried unanimously.
The Treasurer reported the fund had $25,000 in cash and recommended investment of
$17,000 for a one-year period. He said he would contact the various financial
institutions for interest quotes and report back to the Fire Chief and Board mem-
bers before making the investment. Chief Logue moved to authorize the treasurer
to receive quotations for the investment of $17,000 for a one-year period and
to check with the Board members before making the investment. The motion was
seconded by Schader and passed unanimously.
The Treasurer clarified that a $14,000 investment with First Federal would mature
on November 4, 1978 and not on April 4, 1978 as shown on the investment schedule.
He reported that the information for the actuarial study had been forwarded to
State offices and that they had acknowledgedreceipt of the information.
There being no further business, the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned.
