FUND BOARD
June 7, 1976
The regular monthly meeting of the Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund Board
was held June 7, 1976, at 4:30 p.m., in the Office of the City Manager.
PRESENT: Chairman Don Grimes; Treasurer Pat Tobin; Secretary Darlene
Westbrook; Fire Chief Charles McWhorter; and Board members Howard
Boudrey, Marion Doss, and Dennis Mullens.
ABSENT: Dean Harris
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Grimes. Minutes of the May 3, 1976
meeting had been distributed to members of the Board prior to the meeting.
Chief McWhorter, seconded by Howard Boudrey, moved the minutes be approved
as submitted. The motion passed unanimously. New members introduced were
Marion Doss and Dennis Mullens to replace Ronald McArthur and Don Miller.
Prior to approval of the June pension list, the Board considered the
benefits drawn by Leslie Ann Lane as surviving dependent of Hal Lane.
Chief McWhorter stated that Miss Lane had reached 18 years of age and,
although not mandatory, the Board could choose to discontinue her benefits.
Following discussion, Howard Boudrey, seconded by Marion Doss, moved that
Miss Lane's benefits be discontinued. The motion carried unanimously.
In regard to Mrs. Lane's benefits, the Board's concensus was to allot
$25.00 per month to Mrs. Lane and, if Mrs. Lane requested more than $25.00,
verification of her income and expenses would be requested of her. Marion
Doss , seconded by Dennis Mullens, moved that Mrs. Lane receive $25.00
per month. The motion carried unanimously.
Chief McWhorter, seconded by Howard Boudrey, moved that the June pension
list be approved. The motion carried unanimously.
The treasurer reported that the fund currently had a cash balance of $8,000
and that a $20,000 certificate of deposit was scheduled to mature June 10.
He recommended that the certificate not be cashed at this time so that it
can be combined with a $100,000 certificate scheduled to mature June 30.
Mr. Tobin said he would secure quotes for a $120,000 certificate prior to
the next meeting. Howard Boudrey, seconded by Dennis Mullens, moved that
action on the $20,000 certificate be delayed until next meeting. The motion
carried unanimously.
There being no further business, Chief McWhorter, seconded by Howard Boudrey,
moved the meeting be adjourned. The motion met with Board approval and the
Chairman declared the meeting adjourned.
