HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-05-03 MinutesMINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE FIREMEN'S PENSION AND RELIEF FUND BOARD May 3, 1976 The regular monthly meeting of the Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund Board was held May 3, 1976, at 4:30 p.m., in the Directors Room of the City Administration Building. PRESENT: Treasurer Pat Tobin; Secretary Darlene Westbrook; Fire Chief Charles McWhorter; and Board members Howard Boudrey, Ronald McArthur, and Dean Harris. ABSENT: Don Miller (absent at roll. call), Chairman Donald Grimes The meeting was called to order by Chairman Pro Tem Charles McWhorter. Minutes of the April 5, 1976 meeting had been distributed to members of the Board prior to the meeting. Ronald McArthur, seconded by Dean Harris, moved the minutes be approved as submitted. The motion carried unanimously in voice vote of the Board with member Don Miller absent. Chief McWhorter presented an application for pension for Carl Springston whose retirement was effective May 1, 1976. Howard Boudrey, seconded by Ronald McArthur, moved the application be approved. The motion carried unanimously in voice vote of the Board with member Don Miller absent. Ronald McArthur, seconded by Howard Boudrey, moved that the May pension list be approved with the addition of Mr. Springston at a monthly pension of $409.88. In voice vote of the Board the motion carried unanimously with member Don Miller absent. Treasurer Pat Tobin reported that the Fund had received $10,000 in proceeds from the one mill tax, making a total current cash balance of $:16;000. He recommended investing $7,000 with an institution offering the best interest rate and that investments currently maturing be renewed with their respective holders. (Board member Don Miller arrived) The concensus of the Board was to accept the treasurer's recommendation. There being no further business, Howard Boudrey moved the meeting be adjourned.
