HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-03-01 MinutesMINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE FIREMEN'S PENSION AND RELIEF FUND BOARD March 1, 1976 The regular monthly meeting of the Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund Board was held March 1, 1976 at 4:30 p.m. in the Office of the City Manager. PRESENT: Chairman Donald L. Grimes; Secretary Darlene Westbrook; Fire Chief Charles McWhorter; and Board members Howard Boudrey, Ronald McArthur; Dean Harris; and Don Miller. ABSENT: Treasurer Pat Tobin The meeting was called to order by Chairman Grimes. Minutes of the February 2 meeting had been distributed to members of the Board prior to the meeting. Charles McWhorter, seconded by Ronald McArthur, moved that the minutes be approved as submitted. The motion carried unanimously in voice vote of the Board. Chief McWhorter presented the application of Alonzo L. Farrar for pension benefits upon his retirement effective March 1, 1976. Mr. Farrar's monthly benefit would total $507.84. Dean Harris, seconded by Don Miller, moved that the application be accepted and Mr. Farrar added to the monthly pension list. In voice vote of the Board the motion carried unanimously. Chief McWhorter, seconded by Don Miller, moved that the pension list for the month of March (and including the addition of Mr. Farrar) be approved. In voice vote of the Board the motion carried unanimously. Chief McWhorter then reported that Leslie Ann Lane, receiving benefits as a dependent, had recently turned 18 years old and legally should cease receiving benefits. During discussion, the members felt the benefits might be extended since Miss Lane is currently a high school senior. Upon completion of discussion, Howard Boudrey, seconded by Don Miller, moved that the benefits for Miss Lane be extended through, but not beyond, May 31, 1976 and that Mrs. Hal Lane should receive correspondence informing her of the Board's decision. In voice vote of the Board the motion carried unanimously. There being no further business for the Board's consideration, Ronald McArthur moved that the meeting be adjourned.
