March 1, 1976
The regular monthly meeting of the Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund Board
was held March 1, 1976 at 4:30 p.m. in the Office of the City Manager.
PRESENT: Chairman Donald L. Grimes; Secretary Darlene Westbrook; Fire
Chief Charles McWhorter; and Board members Howard Boudrey,
Ronald McArthur; Dean Harris; and Don Miller.
ABSENT: Treasurer Pat Tobin
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Grimes. Minutes of the
February 2 meeting had been distributed to members of the Board prior to
the meeting. Charles McWhorter, seconded by Ronald McArthur, moved that
the minutes be approved as submitted. The motion carried unanimously
in voice vote of the Board.
Chief McWhorter presented the application of Alonzo L. Farrar for pension
benefits upon his retirement effective March 1, 1976. Mr. Farrar's
monthly benefit would total $507.84. Dean Harris, seconded by Don Miller,
moved that the application be accepted and Mr. Farrar added to the monthly
pension list. In voice vote of the Board the motion carried unanimously.
Chief McWhorter, seconded by Don Miller, moved that the pension list for
the month of March (and including the addition of Mr. Farrar) be approved.
In voice vote of the Board the motion carried unanimously.
Chief McWhorter then reported that Leslie Ann Lane, receiving benefits as
a dependent, had recently turned 18 years old and legally should cease
receiving benefits. During discussion, the members felt the benefits
might be extended since Miss Lane is currently a high school senior.
Upon completion of discussion, Howard Boudrey, seconded by Don Miller,
moved that the benefits for Miss Lane be extended through, but not beyond,
May 31, 1976 and that Mrs. Hal Lane should receive correspondence informing
her of the Board's decision. In voice vote of the Board the motion carried
unanimously.
There being no further business for the Board's consideration, Ronald McArthur
moved that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Howard
Boudrey whereupon Chairman Grimes adjourned the meeting.
