HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-02-17 MinutesMINUTES OF A FIREMEN'S PENSION & RELIEF FUND BOARD MEETING A regular meeting of the Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund Board was held on Monday, February 17, 1986 at 4:30 P.M. in Room 313 of City Hall, 113 West Mountain Street. PRESENT: Acting City Manager Murphy, Treasurer Linebaugh, Secretary Kennedy, Fire Chief Jackson, Firemen Dill, Judy, Reagan and Springston CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Scott Linebaugh. At Reagan's request, Linebaugh promised to check with Merrill -Lynch regarding the amount of securities and C.D. rates. Reagan commented that Merrill -Lynch had made a commitment of a higher rate than what is now being received. MINUTES It was moved by Springston, seconded by Reagan and passed unanimously to approve the minutes of the January meeting. PENSION LIST It was moved by Reagan, seconded by Judy and passed unanimously to approve the Pension List for February. NEW BUSINESS Retirement Notices Linebaugh announced the receipt of a letter from Richard H. Baird, Sr., informing the Fire Department of his intentions to retire effective 8:00 a.m., March 10, 1986. Linebaugh announced the receipt of a letter from James H. Moore requesting a transfer to retired status, to be effective February 25, 1986. It was moved by Dill, seconded by Springston, and passed unanimously to approve both requests for retirement. Terms to Expire It was called to the attention of the Board that Pete Reagan's and Gary Springston's terms of office on the Board would expire in May of 1986. There was discussion regarding the setting of guidelines for either electing or appointing retired members to the Board. Gary Springston remarked that everyone with whom he discussed this matter wishes to keep the guidelines similar to those followed for electing other Board members. After considerable discussion regarding how the retired member would be elected to the Board, it was moved by Springston and seconded by Reagan that the retired position be chosen by a popular vote of the active members of the Firemen's Pension Fund. The motion passed unani- mously. ADJOURNMENT With no further business before the Board the meeting was adjourned at about 4:50 P.M.
