National Historic Preservation Month
Commissioners discussed coupling an event on the First Thursday event in May, during
which the Mayor could issue a proclamation of National Historic Preservation Month on
the steps of the Old Post Office.
Commission Goodstein-Murphree suggested an awards program to include three (3)
categories. Sustained achievement/contribution to Historic Preservation, physical
rehabilitation/restoration/reuse of an historic structure, and economic development were
rough ideas for categories. She directed staff to research what process, requirements, and
limitations would be associated with this project.
