1. Introduction and appointment of Alderperson Sarah Lewis as Chair of the
Environmental Concerns Committee (ECC)
2. Introduction of 2009 ECC members including newly appointed members Amy
Lamb and Cemantha Wolljung.
3. Visioning Process for ECC's role in the community
Vision of ECC
Mission
The purpose of the Committee is to address environmental concerns, promote a safe
and healthy environment, and maintain the natural beauty of the environment within
the city. The Committee shall make recommendations to other city committees and to
the City Council on matters concerning the environment.

How to Define Goals
• Use Environmental Management System ISO 14001 to legitimize the process
• Choose topics that are most interesting to Committee members
Possible Actions
0 Education and activism by organizing community outreach and volunteers
• Facilitating communication between community stakeholders
• Act as a vehicle for communication to City Council either through Sarah Lewis or
presentation and discussion from members of the ECC
• Act as a research arm for the Council, city staff and community
