HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-04-10 MinutesMINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION A regular meeting of the Fayetteville Historic District Commission was held on April 10, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 111 of the City Administration Building, 113 W. Mountain, Fayetteville, Arkansas. ACTION TAKEN Design Guidelines: Dickson Commercial Approved Historic District Strategic Plan for Dickson Commercial Historic District Motion to table approved Historic District Commission April 10, 2008 Page 2 MEMBERS PRESENT Vince Chadick Leslie Belden Ethel Goodstein-Murphree Rob Merry -Ship STAFF PRESENT Karen Minkel, Long Range Planning MEMBERS ABSENT Cheri Coley Karon Reese STAFF ABSENT 2 Historic District Commission April 10, 2008 Page 3 CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chair Goodstein-Murphree at 5:34 p.m. I. Approval of the Minutes MOTION to approve the minutes of March 13, 2008 meeting: Leslie Belden SECOND: Vince Chadick VOTE: The vote was unanimous to approve the minutes from the March 13, 2008 meeting, 4-0-0. Motion: Commissioner Belden made a motion to adopt the wording used in the Secretary of Interior Standards for Rehabilitation for architectural metals: "Cleaning shall be done with the gentlest methods possible. Soft metals such as lead, tin, copper, terneplate, and zinc should be done with appropriate chemical methods because their finished can be easily abraded by blasting methods. If handscraping and wire brush have proven ineffective for removing paint buildup and corrosion off of cast iron, wrought iron and steel hard metals low pressure grit blasting may be used as long as it does not abrade or damage the surface." Commissioner Chadick seconded the motion. Upon roll call the motion passed with a vote of 4-0-0. Motion: Commissioner Belden made a motion to remove the word "heavy" from number one under cleaning masonry: "Cleaning masonry should be done only when necessary to halt deterioration or remove heavy soiling." Commissioner Chadick seconded the motion. Upon roll call the motion passed with a vote of 4-0-0. Motion: Commissioner Belden made a motion to adopt the draft of the Dickson Commercial Historic District Guidelines and take the draft to property owners. Commissioner Merry -Ship seconded the motion. Upon roll call the motion passed with a vote of 4-0- 0. Motion: Commissioner Belden made a motion to table Item 6 under New Business: Strategic Plan for Dickson Commercial Historic District to the May 8 meeting of the Historic District Commission. Commissioner Chadick seconded the motion. Upon roll call the motion passed with a vote of 4-0-0. MEETING ADJOURNED: 6:33 P.M.
