A letter from Helen Rice about the long wait for reserved books was read. Discussion by the Board members indicated that there is a three- week checkout for reserved books, a second copy is bought when recuests are heavy, requests are filed by date made, and sometimes pre -publication advertising results in requests being received before the book is available. Carol Wright stated that books are expensive now, 110 for a paperback and '15-25 for a hardback, so people are not buying books and are dropping out of book clubs. This increases library use of current books. Director Harrison was asked to respond to Helen Rice by letter. The meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m. Respectfully submitted, f,4-(fr-ec-c Bobbye S.
