HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-04-08 MinutesFAYETTEVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY Board of Directors Meeting April 8, 1985 4:00 p.m. Present: Robbin Anderson; Bobbye Hay; Jane House; Hugh Longino; Lois Piller; Margaret Salassi; Linda Harrison, Librarian, Carol Wright, Ozarks Regional Librarian; Pat Donat, Northwest Arkansas Times. The minutes of the March meeting were approved as mailed. Ms. Harrison presented the statistical and financial reports for March, pointing out that circulation and registrations were down form 1984. The 1985 city allotment and the 1984 county allotment were received. Ms. Harrison reported that Cecilia Butt has resigned for health reasons. She has been reference librarian since January, 1962. Her tasks have been divided among other reference librarians and a full time clerk, J. C. Gauldin, hired. J. C. Gauldin is a past employee. Bobbye Hay moved that a letter of appreciation be sent Cecilia Butt. Lois Mi -ler provided the second. Copies of the 1984 audit were passed out for review at the April meeting. Robbin Anderson presented two suggestions he received from library users: Sunday opening and an adjustable chair for microfilm reading. The Board discussed Sunday opening, with considerations of cost (i. e., overtime pay) and full versus part staff. Ms. Harrison reported that she had discussed insurance coverage for part-time help with the City personnel officer. Eligibility on a pro -rated basis is being considered. The City Board is studying a City plan. The following officers were elected unanimously: Chairman: Margaret Salassi Secretary: Bobbye Hay Treasurer: Lois Miller Robbin Anderson's term on the Board has expired. He is being replaced by Hugh Longino. The Board members expressed their appreciation for Mr. Anderson's service. He expressed his appreciation for the city and county support and the excellent board attendance. The monthly meeting time was set for the second Monday of each month.
