HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-08-09 MinutesLIBRARY BOARD MINUTES OF MEETING OF AUGUST 9, 1982 PRESENT: Anderson, Miller, Rains, Salassi,, Foster Linda Foster presented the statistical and financial reports for the monts of June and July 1982. Linda Foster presented the "Year-to-DateFinanci"al Report" --January 1982 to July 1982. We are over in Building and Grounds due to the installation of a sprinkler syster and the repair work done in June on the roof. We are also over in Office supplies. However, we are in good shape financially. The week before Labor Day the library will be closed for clean up and there will be a free week for returning library materials. Next month the Board will look again at the auditorium policy. Ms. Miller suggested that we honor Mr. Al Gerlach for his work on indexing the obituaries from 1868 to present. He has been working on this project for 5 years and has accumulated 50,000 cards. Ms. Miller stated that .this file is used extensively and that we are probably the only library locally to have an obituary file. She suggested that we get a plaque to honor Mr. Gerlach and present it to him with some type of festivity. The board agreed. The Board will need to consider budget recommendations soon. Committee as a whole will discuss areas in where there is or may be a particular need. Look at regional budget--formular for propulation. Soon there will be budgetary requests from the city. Dr. Anderson brought us up to date on the Personnel Policy. 1. Statement on personnel policy from Ozark regional library touched on relationship of our Board to Regional Board. 2. NI$. Wright will give background at next meeting. Not State laws, but a co-operative broken down into Regional L"ibr 3. There was a letter from one employee. 4. A letter drafted by a committee from our Board was sent to Ms. Lincoln with the particulars. She said she would bring it to the Ozark Regional Board. 5. The next step is to send the recommendation of our Board to her. 6. Day after Thanksgiving to be a holiday rather than a personal day. A motion was made to forward the recommendation of our Board to the Ozark Regional Roard. The motion was seconded and passed. There will be a State Library Convention Sept 12-14. Ms. Foster will be Attending the convention. It was agreed to postpone the September Board meeting to Sept. 20th at which time we will discuss budgetary concerns.
