Board of Directors
The Board met for its regular monthly session on March 8, with David
Parker absent.
The minutes were approved with onyorrection to complete the first '
sentence of paragraph 4. The statistical and financial reports were then
considered. So far the new schedule for closing at 7 p.m. on four evenings
seems to be working well. It was noted that the sharp increase in cost of
utilities last month has been counterbalanced for the time being by a rebate
from Swepoo for certain overcharges.
The process of obtaining estimates for repairing or replacing the roof
is still in progress, with a number of companies interested.
Mrs. Foster also reported that the City Board has now approved our
1982 budget request as submitted.
Board members were invited to visit the Book Fair currently in progress
downstairs - with some 600 books circulated by publishers for review by
school teachers in the area.
Margaret Salassi has been appointed as a new member of the Board to
succeed Martha Brewer, beginning April, 1982. This being Mrs. Brewer's last
meeting, the other Board members and the staff took occasion to express their
very sincere appreciation for the years of fine service she has given to the
library ans as its chairman.
