Fayetteville Public Library
August 8, 1988
The regular August meeting was not held because of a lack of a quorum.
In its place a special called meeting was held on Saturday, August 13,
immediately following the inspection tour of the Pediatric Building,
conducted by Dr. Mashburn.
Present: Board Members Bobbye Hay, Charles Kirchen, Foster Park;
Library Director Linda Harrison; Ozarks Regional Library
Director Karen Duree
President Hay called the meeting to order at 3:15 p.m. The minutes for
the regular July 11 meeting, as well as the Statistical and Financial
reports for July, were approved as circulated.
Library Director Harrison indicated that an IBM-compatible printer
could be obtained for $325 and a cabinet for the computer (donated by
the Fayetteville Rotary Club, announced at the July meeting) would cost
$729 plus shipping. A motion by Foster Park, seconded by Charles Kirchen,
to approve such purchases was passed unanimously. Rules to be established
for public use of the computer will be voted on at the regular September
meeting. It was further announced that Director Harrison and one other
staff member have been to Fort Smith for training in computer operation;
and staff member Donovan is attending a University of Arkansas class in
computer use.
President Hay reminded the Board that we will review budgeting for the
1989 year at the coming September meeting. There will also be an election
of the 3rd Board member to the budget committee at the September meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:25 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Foster Park, Secretary
