Fayetteville Public Library
4:00 p.m., August 11, 1986
Present: Board Members Bobbye Hay, Lois Miller,4Margaret Salassi; Director
Linda Harrison; Ozarks Regional Library Director, Carol Wright.
Director Harrison presented the statistical and financial reports attached.
She called attention to the electric bill of $2,491.29, which may be a record
high due to extremely hot weather. In response to a question about the $1,075.00
payment to Harmony for janitor service, she expressed her satisfaction with the
service being rendered. Carol Wright indicated the Ozarks Regional Library is
not pleased with the service in its rented area. Director Harrison stated that
she would discuss the problems mentioned with Harmony Janitor Service.
Director Harrison explained that $1,000 of the $1,143.30 from gifts shown under
Petty Cash is from a matching gift from IBM for gifts made by the children of
Robbin and Peg Anderson and John and Lois Imhoff. Board members expressed their
appreciation for the gift.
Some Due It Now posters publicizing the no -fines library book return available
Aug 25- Sept 1 were passed out for board members to post in prominent areas.
Many notices already have been posted. Other publicity already is out or is
in the mail to news organizations. A special presentation will be made on Take
Five on Channel 4.
Lois Miller and Director Harrison reported on the appraisal of the watercolor
by Woodrow Wilson Crumbo. Dr. Frederick J. Dockstader gave an appraisal value
of $2,750. Dr. Dockstader made no charge for the appraisal. The Board members
agreed that documents for the acquisition of the painting and its appraisal
should be placed in the safety deposit box.
In response to a question from Carol Phillips, Director Harrison reported that
the approved card index is on order. In response to a question from Bobbye Hay,
she reported that no response had been received from Dr. Duncan on the presentation
to the staff about asbestos. A member of Dr. Duncan's staff stated that he does
know of the library request.
Director Harrison reported that the summer reading program was a success. A
statistical report on attendance and reading activity is not yet available.
Fine money from the Children's Library finances the reading program expenses.
The July Board minutes were approved as adjusted for typographical errors.
The meeting adjourned at 4:20 p. m.
