The Fayetteville Pablic Library Board of Directors met at 4:00 p.m. on
February 11. Members present were Robbin Anderson, Martha Brewer, Bob Rains,
and Dottie Wood.
The librarian's report was presented and is attached. The treasurer's report
was unavailable because the library has received no funding from the city of
Fayetteville for 1980.
Linda Foster reported that we need a new wet/dry vacuum. The lowest bid
we have received is from Southland Supply Co. for 3435.18 for an 8 gallon capacity
vacuum. Martha Brewer introduced a motion to purchase the equipment with funds from
the Furniture Fund. The motion was seconded by Robbin Anderson and passed unanimously.
The Board agreed to reimburse expenses for lodging and meals to Linda Foster and
Genie Donovan for attending a wordshop on February 13 & 14. The theme of the work-
shop will be 1980 Census programs and products.
Linda Foster displayed the ceramic tiles made by a children's class at Calabash
Pottery and asked the Board for suggestions for a permanent display.
Linda Foster also reported that the Jaycettes have made a lovely puppet theater for
the Children's Section.
Mrs. Wood reported that most of the items on the Fire Inspection Form are covered
by the General Contract for the building expansion project, with the exception of
an additional fire extenguisher and an exit light over the north door in the
magazine area.
Mrs. Brewer discussed the need for an additional staff member as a result of
providing night service and the loss of assistance from the staff of the Children's
Section. Mrs. Brewer suggested that the funds for the additional staff come from
the Furniture Fund since in,fleeemier 39,505.26 was spent on furniture and equipment
from the Operating Budget. Dr. Anderson introduced a motion to interview for an
adult services librarian to see what salary might be considered. In other action
the Board considered raising the rent for the use of the auditorium. This item
was tabled until charges for other meeting rooms in town can be obtained.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Foster
