FAYETThvsLLE PUDIC LIBRARY
January 114, 1980
The Fayetteville Public Library Board of Directors met at 4:00 on
January 11. Members present were Robbin Anderson, Martha Brewer, Bob Rains,
and Dottie Wood.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The Tresurer's Reports and the Audit for 1979 were presented and are
attached.
The Librarian's Reports are attached.
In an attempt to withhold final payment toftthe contractor, Dottie Wood
introduced a motion to not sign the Certificate of Substantial Completion
dated December 3, 1979. The motion was seconded by Bob Rains and passed
unanimously. Linda Foster will check to see if a portion of the payment
will be withheld if the Certificate is signed. Also the librarian will
compile an adjusted punch list and contact the contractor about completion
of those items.
Mrs. Foster reported that Mr. Da Costa has complained about the new arrange-
ment of the library. He feels that the genealogy section is not only too large,
but that the best light for reading is in that section and further, that the
librarian talks too loudly. The Board extended their sympathy.
Linda Foster asked the Board for a policy concerning the use and regulation
of the library's display cases. The Board did not agree on a formal policy but
agreed to support the librarians' decision. In the event of an "unacceptable"
display the Board will be contacted for their decision.
Martha Brewer suggested postponing the open house until after the drapes and
the bench for the foyer arrive.
Dr. Anderson reported on the availability of grant monies from the Arkansas
Endowment for the Humanities. He reported that the funds can be used for
materials and staff, in addition to explorin the need for definite long-range
programs.
The Board agreed to allow the use as the building for the polling place
for Precinct 8 with the provision that we will not be responsible for the
voting machines and other equipment.
Mrs. Wood reported on the Inspection Report made by the Fire Marshall and will
check into his recommendations.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Foster
