Fayetteville Public Library
November 12, 1979
The Fayetteville Public Library Board of Directors met at
4:00 p.m., Monday, November 12. All members were present.
The librarian's and treasurer's reports were presented and
are attached.
Linda Foster reported that the city has agreed to pay our
state unemployment insurance from January 1978 through the third
quarter of 1979.
Linda Foster reported that the custodian, Mike Boyd has
recommended the purchase of a Clarke Model 576A vacuum cleaner
costing $538.00 over a Clarke Model 410 costing $232.00. George
Shelton introduced a motion to purchase the Model 576A. Bob Rains
seconded the motion with the provision that the necessary attachments
be included in the total price.
Linda Foster reported that Mr. and Mrs. Porter Stone donated
$500.00 to be applied toward the purchase of books for the Children's
Library.
Mim Winn, having received a grant from the Arkansas Endowment for
the Arts, employed Elizabeth Reagan as an apprentice weaver. Together
they created six tapestries for the children's library.
Dottie Wood reported that the bench for the downstairs foyer has
been ordered. The Street Department will reverse the traffic flow
around the building when the weather permits the necessary painting.
Mrs. Wood asked the Board for a written policy concerning displaying
announcements at the library.
George Shelton presented the prototype of Tom Wilson's sculpture,
which the First National Rank has offered to finance for the children's
library.
Bob Rains reported having received a letter and telephone call
from a patron requesting evening hours of service. The Board has agreed
that this service is to be attempted after the move.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
