Fayetteville Public Library
December 11, 1978
The Board of Directors of the Fayetteville Public Library met at
4:00, December 11. Members present were Bill Bassett, Bob Rains,
George Shelton and Dottie Wood.
The librarian's report was presented and is attached.
Mrs. Foster reported that a gift of 35 genealogical books were donated
from the Harold Watson estate and that the duplications to the collection
will be sold at a discouted price to interested libraries and individuals.
The money from the sale will go into the operating budget, earmarked for
the genealogy section of our library.
Mrs. Foster reported on the possibility of hiring a temporary clerk
during Sue Walker's leave of absence.
In other business, Mrs. Foster requested a policy for library opera-
tion during inclement weather. It was decided that it will be left to the
librarian's discretion to close the library when unsafe conditions exist.
In attempting to keep the library open as much as possible, the librarian
can defer opening until later in the day or close early. The news media
will be notified in the event that the library is closed.
Mrs. Wood asked if any progress has been made toward actual construc-
tion. Mr. Shelton agreed to check with Mr. Burge on progress.
Mrs. Wood reported that a job description for the janitor will be
written and probably presented after the expansion is completed.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:20.
