Fayetteville Public Library
June 12, 1978
The Board of Directors of the Fayetteville Public Library met June 12
at 4:00 p.m. with all members present.
The Treasurer's and Librarian's Reports were presented and are attached.
Mrs. Wood reported that she is still trying to contact Billie Von Kreck
about her stained-glass window for the library.
Mr. Shelton reported that the final working drawings for the building
extension would be completed for the July 10 meeting.
Linda Foster reported that Leah Eastham will be leaving June 24 for a
position with Social Services. Also Linda Bender will be resigning June 30
for health reasons.
The Blue Cross/Blue Shield rate has been reduced from $262.36 to $233.82
per month.
The rebate and second quarter's check from Washington County has been received
for a total of $12,686.38. We received a 10% increase over last year. The rebate
amounted to $4411.50 and checks for the next two quarters will be for $7,585.19.
Linda Foster suggested that a plate acknowledging the two years' voluntary
service of Mr. Al Gerlach be placed on the Book Endowment Plaque. The Board
suggested that the Northwest Arkansas Times be contacted when the plate is
presented.
Mrs. Foster asked for some guidelines for accepting one-man art exhibitions.
It was decided that they will be allowed if the works are either small enough
for the display cases or if shown in the auditorium, that the artist arrange
for supervision of the room.
Since the Fourth of July is on Tuesday, Mr. Bassett asked the librarian
to find out when the city offices will be closed.
Linda Foster announced that Elizabeth Danley, Children's Librarian has
over 400 children registered in the Summer Reading Program. Mrs. Wright announced
that Pit -Stop School is making an Artoo-Detoo for the library to correspond
with this year's theme of science fiction.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
