Fayetteville Public Library
April 10, 1978
The Board of Directors of the Fayetteville Public Library met April
10 at 4:00 p.m. Members present were George Shelton, Martha Brewer, Dottie
Wood, Bob Rains, and Bill Bassett.
Martha Brewer presented the Treasurer's Report and the First Quarterly
Report. Mr. Shelton recommended that on future quarterly reports that
4 of the budget appear in a separate column for comparison purposes.
The Librarian's Report was read and approved.
Mr. Shelton welcomed Mr. Bob Rains to the Board of Directors.
Linda Foster recommended that due to the heavy demand on the microfilm
readers that a voluntary two-hour limit be imposed on the use of the machines.
She reported that the University Women's Club has donated $25.00 to the
library and that several other local organizations have offered to donate a
piece of equipment or furniture. It was requested that a record be kept of
all such donations.
Mr. Shelton reported that the bond issue will be bid on April 18
and funded 15 days later. The bills for the building program will be
sent to the City Comptroller's Office for payment.
There was a general discussion concerning the selection of local
contractors as opposed to out-of-state contractors to do the work on
the building.
Mr. Bassett requested an estimate of the cost of furnishings and equip-
ment that will be needed.
Mr. Rains questioned the fact that the library is not open during
evening hours. There followed a general discussion concerning current and
past difficulties relative to this matter. It was decided to bring this
up again after the expansion project is completed.
There being nor further business, the meeting was adjourned.
