HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-01-09 MinutesMINUTES January 9, 1978 The monthly meetin of the Roberta Fulbright Library Board met at 4:00 on January 9, 1978. All members were present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Linda Foster gave her monthly report which is attached. She told. the Board that several people had asked if we might put in new doors which could be used by persons in wheel chairs. A discus- sion followed but no action was taken. George Shelton noted that our circulation was down 5% for the year. The Board discussed the possibility of figures which would show the use of the library rather than curculation alone. The circulation figure does not always reflect the rise of the library. Carol Wright reported that Linda Foster, Elizabeth Danley and herself plan a trip to Tulsa to see a new children's library. Shy also announced that the County Library Board will be reorgan- ized under the new Quorum Court. There will be no major changes. Narnee Murphy gave the monthly report and the revised 1978 Budget. They are attached. The Board accepted the new budget. Narnee told the Board of the offer from Mrs. Helen Brannan to work as a volunteer in the children's library. Bill Bassett made the following motion: "In an effort to establish a more even, uniform and orderly method for all purchases from the Book Endowment Fund - that all purchases of any kind or description which are made out of said Book Endow- ment Fund, first be approved and authorized by the Librarian of the Fayetteville Public Library. And that said Librarian shall there- fore be required to furnish to the Board of Directors, at least every quarter, a list of said purchases, showing therein the date of pur- chase, the description of the purchase, and the cost thereof." This will be effective January 1, 1978. The motion was seconded and passed (4 to 1). Bill Bassett reviewed for us the contract with the architect, Warren Seagraves. Dottie Wood is to return the contract to him and question him on three points: 1) the price of 7% rather than 6% charged the Continuing Education Building. 2) the price of $50.00 per hour for added services rather than $25.00. 3) the charge/of 3 times rather than 21/2times. Meeting adjourned. Martha Brewer
