HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-11-14 MinutesNovember 14, 1977 The Board of Directors of the Fayetteville Public Library met at 4:00, November 14. Members present were Dottie Wood, Narnee Murphy, George Shelton, and W. W. Bassett. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. The Treasurer's report and the Librarian's report were approved and are attached. Mrs. Murphy reported on a budget committee meeting where she was advised that we would have to alter our proposed 1978 budget. We are not to expect more than a 4% overall increase over last year's budget. Also, she was advised that salary increases should be nomore than 6% with:a $20.00 merit increase on the employee's anniversary date. Items deleted from the proposed budget were $5,335 for Position #13(an aide in the Children's Department), $6,500 for upkeep to the physical plant, and $1,400 for furniture and equip- ment. There followed a discussion of the special election. It was noted that the voters need to be informed that there will be two separate bond issues(one for the library expansion and one for the parks improvements). The wording on the post cards was discussed. Mrs. Wood reported that she had been interviewed by the Grapevine. She also announced that Betty Askew and Ted Wylie are going to write letters to the editor. Dr. and Mrs. Wood will donate the ad in the Star Shopper. There was a general discussion about the personnel organizational chart and about the Book Endowment Fund. Mr. Bassett requested that a study be made of the library's needs, bearing in mind that the Fund be used "in the best interest of all patrons."
