HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-01-12 MinutesThe Board of Trustees of the Roberta Fulbright Memorial Library met at the library, January 12, 1976. Members present were: B. Bassett, M. Brewer, D. Wood, N. Murphy, and G. Shelton. By-laws requested by Glen Smith regarding funding and financial oper- ations. Harriet Jasmine requested library open at night. B. Bassett explained about cutback of city funds. John Squires requests more consideration of employed library patrons, particularly evening hours. B. Bassett suggested a public poll to decide what hours are desired. G. Shelton remarked that increased hours will mean more money and employees. Volunteers were suggested through CETA program. B. Bassett questioned whether Workman's Compensation would cover volunteers. 1976 Officers elected: President - Bill Bassett Secretary - Dottie Wood Treasurer - Narni Murphy Martha Brewer welcomed as new board member. D. Wood, N. Murphy, M. Brewer will decide on gift to honor past board members. Mrs. Keith reported that house east of library will be demolished and cleared by city. There are no funds available for parking lot; grass will be planted. Mrs. Wright gave resume of 1970-75 circulation and microfilming of heavily used magazines. She feels that Fayetteville Library should be research center for Ozark area. Loss of books is very small for large circulation. N. Murphy reported that we can't use city retirement plan. B. Bassett will check into 3 alternative plans. Question raised by 5 day week. Move - second on agreed previous salary increases. Motion made - second to explore possiblity of other funding and second employee through CETA program. Motion made - second for retirement of employees. Motion made - second for feasability studing on operating hours and closing the library on Monday. 1976 budget approved.
