HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-07-09 MinutesThe Board of Diectors of the Fayetteville Public Library met at 4 p.m.
on Monday, July 9, 1973, with Mr. Sturman Mackey, assistant city manager,
present.
Mr. Willliams reported that the apparent low bidder on new air-
conditioning equipment was Fields Plumbing Company with a bid of
$2400 for a 5 -ton 60,000 BTU unit. Guarantees were:
compressor 5 years
heat exchanger 10 years
free service 1 year
Upon the advice of Mr. Williams, Mr. Mackey, and Fields, the Board
agreed to have the equipment inspected every six months with maintenance
paid by the hour. Mr. Willaims also noted that he would try to have
the Ark -Bs air-condintioning units repaired at once.
The minutes were read and approved.
Mrs. Keith gave the monthly report of circulation, registration, and
petty cash (attached), told us that the summer reading program now
had 156 pre-schoolers and 533 regular attendants.
Mr. Shelton presented the annual report of the Book Endowment Fund (attached).
Mrs. Wright asked the members of the Board to go byAthe ORL and see
a collection of pictures and records that the Rogers Public Library
was making available to its members.
Mr. Williams read to the Board a letter from Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Rogers of Springdale asking if the Library would accept a bequest
on the condition that the principal, a substantial but unspecified
amount, be invested and that the income be used only for the purchase
of genealogical books, records, &c. The Board agreed unanimously
to this generous proposal.
Before giving the May, June, and Quarterly financial reports (attached),
Mrs. Murphy agreed to try to approach the Arkansas Western Gas Company
informally to see if the repair of the older air-conditioning units
could bllexpedited.
