After the minutes had been read and approved, Mr. Williams reported that City Manager Donald Grimes had had gravel put in the most bothersome parts of the curbside parking area. The main business of the meeting consisted of Mr. Williams' discussion of the state of the air-conditioning units: the unit cooling the ORL office is kaput, the remaining units are in a questionable state of repair, and the estimated cost of replacing the one unit ($3110) may be merely the beginning of a long hot summer. After general consideration, Mr. Williams was asked to get surveys and estimates from Arkansas Western Gas and from Swepco in sufficient detail for the Board to consider both unit replacement and major rehabilitation of all units. Mrs. Keith gave the May report of circulation, registration, and petty cash (attached), and noted that the pre-school reading program had enrolled almost 150 and the regular summer program over 400. In the apsence of further business, the Board adjourned at 4:22 P.M.
