HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-04-16 MinutesThe Board of the Fayetteville Public Library met at 4 p.m. on Monday,
April 16, 1973, with Directors Williams, Wylie, and Rudolph in
attendance. Also present ::ere Mrs. Grace Keith and Mr. Donald Grimes.
After the reading and approval of the minutes, Mr. Williams reported
that he had inspected the lights with Mr. Thornsberry and that massive
repairs were in process and that touch-up painting around the water
fountain had been completed.
Mrs. Keith gave the March report of circulation, registration, and
petty cash (attached) and noted the following:
1. the form letter used by City Attorney David Malone to search for
overdue books had cost $ 332.80 since October, 1972. Mr. Grimes
suggested that the library might employ an off-duty policeman to
collect books or fines.
Mrs. Wright has prepared a program of buying magazines on
microfilm (attached). The Board proposed to begin the program
immediately.
Mrs. Wright had suggested that recreational programs be held
in the library on Sunday afternoons when the library is open
seven days a week. In view of the staffing and planning for
such programs, the Board invited the OBL to provide this
service.
Mrs. Wright suggested that chess tables be set up. The Board
rejected this proposal
5. The memorial plaque is now full and the Board will need to consider
purchasing another one. Mrs. Keith was asked to ina4r4ftge the
costs etc. and. report to the Board. v-ens
Mrs. Murphy presented the annual budget for 1973 in its final form,
the quarterly repprt, and the March report(attached).
