HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-08-12 MinutesThe Board of the Fayetteville Public Library met at 4 P*me on Monday., August 21, 1972, with all mj�bers present except Mr. Wylie Mr. Williams reported that the broken window in the library had been replaced and had been covered by insurance and noted that: lo rent on the upper apartment of the Carnqr property would be raised to $95.00 on Sept. 1, the -increase to be cleared with Mr. Malone for legality under rent control regulations, 2* utilities averaging in the past $25 per month will be paid by Kra, Murphy from the rent account, Payment of utilities will be reviewed in 60-90 days. 3e the gas contract for the apartments requires no deposit. 4e Mr. Malone had senta quit claim deed to be executed to replace the warranty deed to cover the rear 5 feet of the Read property sold to Mr. Ray White, Mrs* Keith presented the monthly report of circulation, registration, and petty cash (attached) and info=ed the Board that: 1, the library will be closed Wednesday through Saturday, Aug, 23-26, to install the new shelves and shift books, 2* the installation and shifting will cost approximately $60.00 3. the air-conditioning is unsatisfactory. ' 4. the entrance post has been battered and the City will be asked to re -align it, two vacancies on the library staff have been filled by Miohaole Beard and Mrs. Connie Clack at the same salary scale as the former incumbents, Mrs, Murphy analyzed the state of the air-conditioning equipment: of the 5 cooling towers, 1 is on the point of collapse and 3 may last this summer but will have to be replaced eventually at a cost of $107 plus cost of -installation per tower, As $1000 remains of the $1500 maintenance budgetv the cost is not alarming, Finally, if there is no further vandalism of the valves of the air-conditioning, the problem of downhill drainage will not occur, Mrs. Murphy gave the monthly financial report (attached) and noted that the City paid its allocation the first month of the quarter, that Mr, Carney had been paidg and that a rent account had been opened, Since the financial situation seemed to warrant it, the Boaxd voted to purchase a glass display case to be used in the entry, Mrs. Wright suggested that the Board might begin long-range budget plans at the next meeting with attention to comparisons with pay scales of public school librariansg library degrees, etc, Adj: 5slO p.m*
