Mr. Shelton gave the quarterly treasurer's report-:& distributed copies (attached). After the reading of the minutes, fyir. Williams reported that the sale of the Read property had netted 4 8,135.11, which could be applied to the purchase of the Carney property to the east of the library. He added that he had received a bid for the removal of the partially burned house for 450, not to int" the removal of the foundation. Mr. Grimes suggested that the City Administration might complete the razing. It was moved and seconded (Rudolph/Wylie) that the president and the treasurer of the board be authorized to negotiate a loan to complete the Carney transaction, the income from the apartments being used to amortize the loan after the deduction of an adequate reserve. Passed unanimously. Mrs. Keith gave the monthly report of circulation, registration, and petty cash (attached). She further noted that: 1.. the floor covering between the older and newer sections of the library were loose again and that *he would notify the Ozark Floor Co. 2. a cornerpiece on the northeast window was inexplicably missing again and that she would ha-ve it replaced by the original installer, the Fayetteville Glass Co. R 3. a locked display case for exhibits of books and other objects of general interest would be highly desirable. The Board suggested she investigate the matter further. Mrs. Wright presented the current book inventory of the Fayetteville Public Library, including its own holdings and books on loan from the Ozark Regional Library (attaciied). She also reported that there is an astonishingly rapid increase in curculation to rest homes, kinder— gardens, Boy Land, etc. and that there is evidence of considerable interest is Benton County in the establishment of a county library. Mrs. Murphy presented the monthly and quarterly financial reports (attached). She called attention particularly to the adjustment in the water bill--X43.91--which was granted by the City Water Department because the leakage did not go through the disposal system. She also reported that Mr. Christy had discovered evidence of vandalism of the air—conditioning unit, an unscrewed pipe, that might have caused some of the leakage attributed to a collapsed underground conduit. At her suggestion, ivir.; Shelton consented to inquire if the owners <•-.w, of the props; •touth of the library (Fuitons ) would settle for vw, , properly ditche drainage rather than pipe to accommodate overflow from the library grounds. 13 6 xdj: 5:05 p.m, E.
