HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-02-15 MinutesThe Board of the Fayetteville Public Library met at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15,
1971, in the auditorium.
After a preliminary survey of the drainage of the south parking lot was reported
by Mrs. Keith, Mrs. Murphy announced that the delay in receipt of cit..; y funds
would lead to a fiscal crisis by March 1.
Mr. Willaims said that Mr. Howe had agreed to order fluorescent lights on the
city contract. Mrs. Keith then said that the city electrical inspector had
suggested a general inspection of the lights. Mr. Williams will i.nvesitgate.
Mrs. Murphy questioned the parking on the curb, the traffic pattern in the
parking area, and surreptitious Parkers from the eastern slope. The situation
will be reviewed after the parking lot is paved.
Mr. Williams will secure a McClinton estimate on the cost of paving tie parking
lot.

Mrs. Murphy suggested that in view of the dire straits in which the funds
must be described that her sugestion of transfer of funds to certificates
off deposit be shelved. She then gave the January financial report (attached).
Mrs. Keith gave the monthly report of circulation, registration, and petty
cash (attached), and requested the immediate purchase of

cabinets for much used government publicatio-s. Approved
She further reported payment of 4 6.18 from SWBellTel for the pay phone.
With hir, ttiylie abstaining, the board voted to buy a microfilm- reader and
film storage cabinets if the ORL purc_!ased a microfilm coPe of the NW Ark
Times from 1903 through 1970. The L,brary will expect to continue purchasing
microfilm of the Times now and expand its holdings of microfilm aund
microfiche later.
Mrs. VIrigh reported that the pre—school story hour had been an outstanding
success requiring a second section in the afternoons and that a second one
also with two platoons would begin late in March.
Mrs. Keith reported the resignation and replacement 6f Bruce Davis on
the library staff.
