Minutes of January 19,1969
The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Public Library held a
special meeting on January 19 at 4:00 p.m.in the board room.The
purpose of the meeting ws to discuss the matter of building an
addition to the librarZ
Present:Board members:Mr.Webb Williams,Mrs.Lowell Chaney,Mr.Ted
Wylie,Mr.Ellis Shelton,Q.W.McMillen;
Regional Librarian Mrs.Carol Wright;� n Seagraves;
Assistant City Manager Sturman Mackey;Mr.Donald Rainey
of E D A.
It was stated by Mr.Rainey that there would be the possibility of
securing funds for library extension through E D A on a fifty-fiftkr
be.sis,provided,however,that all government library funds had been
encumbered.
In the discussion concerning an addition to the library building,
Mr.Wsrren Seagraves advised that the best plan would be to take
out the east wall of the present building; and make a. 48 -.foot exten'-.
sion with the north and south walls flush with the present walls.
Mr.Seagraves will figure approximate costs.
It was decided to make preliminary applicatiofi for federal library
matching funds through the State Library Commission.
The Board discussed the feasibility of enclosing the ground floor
of the proposed extension for rental as office space to help in
financing the costs of the addition. Mr.Shelton will investigate
possibilities.
