Minutes of August 12,1968
The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Public Library held its regular
monthly meeting on August 12,1968 at 4:00 p.m. in the board room.
Present:Board members:Mrs®Lowell Chaney,Mr.Ellis Shelton,M.r.Ted Wylie,
O.W.McMillen;
Librarians:Mrs.Carrol Wright,Mrs.Grace Keith;
City Managers:Gerald Fox,David Sturman Mackey.
The minutes of June 10,1968 were read and approved.A quorum was not present
for the meeting of July 8.
The report of the treasurer showed a balance of $5,320.90 on August 1 and
$1,594.14 in the house rent fund.
The report of the librarian showed a. grand total circulation of 21,631 for
July.The circulation :for July 1967 was 18,914.'The registration figures
for these same two periods were 256 and 173 respectively.
Mrs.Keith reported vandalism committed on the outdoor part of the air
conditioning system.Locks and covers for the switnh have now been provided.
Mrs.Keith also reported that the enrollment in the summer reading program
was 586 and that the attendance for the story hour was good.
Mrs.Wright reported a gift of fifty records from R C A.
On recommendation of Mrs.Wright and on motion by Mrs.Chaney,seconded by
Mr.Shelton,it was voted to aprove engaging Mrs.Agnes Walters for the
library staff at a salary of 4400 per year beginning approximately on
September 1.
It is noted for the record that Nancy Baker will return to service in the
library as of September 1.
The board adjourned at 4:37 p.m.
