Minutes of May 13,1968
The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Public Library held its
regular monthly meeting on May 1301968 at 4:00 p.m.in the board room.
Present;Board members:Mr.Webb Williams,Mrs.Lowell Chaney,Mr.Ted
Wylie,O.W.MeMil.len;
Librarians:Mrs.Carrol Wright,Mrs.Grace Keith.
The minutes of April 8 were read and approved.
The report of the treasurer showed a balance of $1,710*01 on hand
on May 1, The house rent fund balance was $1,369.14 on that date.
Mrs,Keith reported on preparations for a big summer reading program.
There will be need for one thousand booklets for summer readers,en-
titled "Books I Have Read". For the record it is noted with apprec-
iation that these have been furnished in the past by the Northwest
Arkansas Times and the First National Bank of Fayetteville.
The question of vacation pay for library staff was presented.The
opinion of the board is that our policy should be in keeping with
that of the City of Fayetteville for their employees.The chairman
will obtain the needed information from Mr.AI Jones so that the
board can conform.
The report of the librarian showed a grand total circulation for
April of 14,109;one year ago it was 11,723. The registration fig-
ures for the two dates were 142 and 131 respectively.
Mrs.Wright reported on workshops held recently at Burn's Gables
for librarians,"a helpful experience" and at Springdale„for
library trustees,the theme of which was interlibrary cooperation.
Mrs.Wright also reported on the present
Fayetteville books -1%032; Regional books
a total of 37,293.
