Fayetteville Public Library Board
Minutes of April 8,1968
The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Public Library held. its
regular monthly meeting on April 8,1968 in the library board room
at 4:00 p.m.
Present:Board m.embers:Mr.Webb Williams,Mrs.Lowell Chaney,Mr.Ellis
Shelton,Mr.Ted Wylie,O.W.MeMillen;
Librarians:Mrs.Carrol-;Wright,Mrs.Grace Keith.
The minutes of Febrtary 12 were read and approved.A meeting was
not held in March on account of bad weather.
Mrs4Keith reported on the need of materials for the summer reading
program to be held beginning June 1.
Mrs.Keith also reported that some 3000 school children attended the
book exhibit held at the library in March.
Mrs.Wright reported thPt a library workshop would be held on April 19
at Burns Gables for Washington and Crawford counties,the first to be
held singe the organization of,the regional library.
The report of the librarian for March showed a grand total circula-
tion of 14,728,an increase of over 2,000 in comparison with March
of 1967.Registration was 264 over against 179 for the corresponding
March of 1967.

The treasurer reported on finances for March and for the,,quarter
of 1968.The report showed a balance on April 1 of $2,495.27 after
the deduction of the $1500 contingency fund.
The librarians reported on matters connected with the rental of a
new charging machine at $90 per year,an increase of $40 per ,year,
for which a budget prevision will have to be made.
The report of the treasurer showed $1339.14 in the house rent fund.
The secretary was instructed to write a letter of condolence to the
family of Mr.Gilbert Swanson,who was a wonderful friend of our
library.
The board adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
