Minutes of January 15,1968
The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Public Library held its
regular monthly meeting on January 15,1968,instegd of on the eighth
because of inclement weather. The meeting was held at 4:00 p.m, in
the board room.
Present:Board. members:Mrs.Lowell Chaney,Mr.Ellis Shelton,Mr.Ted Wylie,
O.W.McMillen;
Librarians:Mrs.Hazel Deal,Mrs.Grace Keith.
The minutes of December 11,1967 were read and approved.
The trea.surer,Mrs.Lowell Chaney,presented reports for December,the
last quarter of 1967,and the year 1967. In addition to the usual con-
tingency fund there was a balance of $1,586.96 on January 1.1968.
The house rent fund now has the sum of $1,114.14.
It was voted to approve the budget for 1968 as presented by Mrs.Chaney.
Because of additional funds received now from both the City and County,
the new budget provkdes for much needed salary increases which have
been long overdue.
Mrs.Deal presented reports on circulation and book stock for December
and for the year 1967.The December report showed an increase in both
circulation and registration in comparison with the same month in 1966.
The grand total circulation for the year 1967 was 163,741:adult 92,086
and ,juvenile 71,655. The annual book stock report shows that the City
Library had 18,263 books of its own and. 17,260 on loan from the Ozarks
Regional Library,making a total of 35,523 on January 1,1968.
It was voted. to authorize the employment of Dorothy Jane Caldwell at
a salary of $4200 to replace Mary Hawks ,just as soon as Miss ealdwell
is available.
Mrs.Keith reported on the use of the auditorium during the year 1927.
This room was used 93 times by 28 different organizations.
The board adjourned at 5:08 p.m.
