Fayetteville Public Library Board
Minutes of September 11,1967
The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Public Library held its regular
monthly meeting on September 11,1967 at 4$00 p.m.in the board room.
Presant:Board members:Mr.Webb Williams,Mrs.Lowell Chaney,Mr.Ted Wylie,
Mr.Ellis Shelton,O.W.MeMillen;
Librarians:Mrs.Hazel Deal,Mrs.Grace Keith.
The minutes of June 12,July 10,and August 14 were read and approved.
The secretary was instructed to write to Mr.Robert Selle to thank him
for removing the stump from the library parking lot.Mr.Sellits public
spirit and civic pride were commented on by board members.
Mrs.Keith reported on the very successful summer reading program.Some of
the interesting and important points are as follows:
Number of children registered 563
Dumber of awards 322
Percentage receiving certificates 59
Dumber of books read 31,9423
The complete report is filed with these minutes and is something of
which the board members are proud.
The report of the treasurer,Mrs.Chaney,showed a balance of funds on
hand at the end of August in the amount of $8,859.55. She also reported
that there was $829.14 in the house rent fund.
The report of Mrs.Deal showed a grand total circulation for August
of 17,385 over against 15,937 for August,1966. There were 177 registra-
tions for the past Auguat and 124 the same month of 1966.
After adjournment at 5:08 the board members examined the newly acquired
reference books,most useful and most attraetive,representing money well
expended.
