HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-01-09 MinutesI Fayetteville Public Library Board Minutes of January 9,1967 The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Puhlic Library held. its regular monthly meeting at 4:00 p.m.on January 9,1967 in the board's meeting room. Present:Board members;Mr.Webb Williams,Mrs.Lowell Chaney,Mr.Ted Wylie, Mr.Ellis Shelton,O.W.MeMillen; Librarians:Mrs.Hazel Deal,Mrs.Grace Keith; City Manager Gerald. Fox,City Attorney Hugh Kincaid. City Attorney Hugh Kincaid discussed with the board a proposed ordinance to protect the library from those persons who habitually fail to return books or who lose them and fail to make restoration.He agreed to draw up a final draft to present to the librarians.The board is very grate- ful to Mr.Kincaid for his interest and helpful advice. The minutes of December 12,1966 were read and approved. The treasurer made a financial report for December, and for the year 1966.1he balance on hand on December 31 was $5,745.96. It was voted to approve the budget for 1967 as presented by Mrs.Chaney. The report of the librarian showed a total circulation of 10,570 for December and 96 total registration;adult 76,juventle 20. The book stock report showed that we had 17,244 books on January 1,1967 in the city library and 15,397 on loan from Ozarks Regional Libra.rv',a total of 32,641 books. The grand total circulation for 1966 was 149,700 over against 152,914 for 1965. A detailed report on the use of the auditorium for 1966 showed that it is still being greatly used by various organizations. Mrs®Deal presented a detailed report on "Benefits Derived from the For- mation of the Ozarks Regional Libraryt0,which was of great interest and very helpful to the board and the city manager. The city library re- ceives its share of the benefits outlined in the report.The board is grateful to Mrs.Deal for the preparation of this report. The board reconsidered its action of November 14 and decided to place the Freedom Shrine,donated by the Exchange Club,on the main floor of the library against the east wall.
