Minutes of June 13,,1966 The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Public Library met in regular session at 4:00 p.m.on June 13,1966 in the board rooms. Present:Board members:Mr.Webb Williams,Mrs.Lowell Chaney, Mr.Ellis Shelton,Mr.Ted Wylie,O*W.MeMillen; Librarians:Mrs.Hazel Deal,Mrs.Orace Keith; City Manager Fox. The minutes of May 9 were read and approved* The report of the treasurer,presented by Mrs.Chaney,showed a balance $90162.72 on June 1,1966. The report of the librarian,presented by Mrs.Deal,showed that the circulation for May was 6,335 for adults and 4,014 for juveniles, a total of 10,349. There were 103 registrations:86 adult and 17 juvenile. Record is made of the fact that the property just east of the library,owned by Mr.A.A.Benedict,bacame available to the library for the sum of 413,5001that Mr.Hal C.Douglas*has generously agreed to donate to the library that sum for the purchase of this prop- erty;that a sales contract has been signed by Mr.Russell Benedict as agent for his father and by the president and secretary of this board;and that the sum of $600.00 from the library contin- gency fund has been placed in escrow until such time when the sales contract shall have been executed. Mr.Russell Benedict stated to board members that the present occupanjrs of the front part of the house on the property men- tioned above are paying $60.00 rent per month and that the occu- pant of the rear apartment is paying $30.00 per month and that they do not have leases but are on a month to month rental basis. It was the feeling of the board that we should continue renting the property for the time being and do so with the understanding that we would expect the occupants to take care of all minor repairs even on the basis of a reduced rental and that we should. notify them that we would not undertake any major repairs;all such details are to be decided upon conveyance of this property to the City of Fayetteville. It was reported. from a conversation with a city official that the library will have use of rebtal funds,which will be kept in a separate account and used for preparing the property for our best use.
