Minutes of September 13,1965
The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Public Library met in
regular monthly session at 4:00 p.m. on September 13,1965 in the
board room.
PresentsBoard members:Mr.Webb Williams,Mrs.Lowell Chaney,Mr.Ted Wylie,
Mr.Fllis Shelton,O.W.McMillen;
Librarians: Mrs.Hazel Deal,Mrs.Qrace Keith.
The minutes of August 9,1965 were read and approved.
Mr.McMillen reported on a discussion he had with Mr.Russell Benedict
relative to the purchase of the property adjoining the library to the
east.Tbe discussion was in terms of the possibility of the donation
of $12,500 by friends of the library and the allocation of $500 from
library funds,making a total of $13,000.Mr.Benediet awaits a definite
offer before any commitment by the owners.
Mrs.Deal reported a grand total circulation for August of 15,108,an
increases over August,1964.She reported 115 registrations,90 adult
and 25 juvenile,also an increase over 1964.
Mrs.Chaney reported a balance of *6256.47 on September 1,1965 of
total income over total spent for August.
The board members noticed with interest and pleasure the special dis-
play in the main reading roam in observance of Constitution Week.
Mrs.Keith reported a very successful summer reading program,the de-
tails of which will be available for the next meetingThe program
was higher in numbers and quality of material read.
Mrs.Deal,as Regional Librarian,informed the
encouraging degree of progress being made in
libraries in Crawford County;this county and
form a regional library.
