Minutes of October 12,1964
The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Public Library held its
regular monthly meeting on October 12,1964 in the board_ rooms
at 4:00 p.m.
Present:Board members:Cha.i.rman Nebb Williams,Mrs.Lowell Chaney,
Mr.Ted Wylie,Mr®Ellis Shelton,0,71.MeMillen;
Librarians:Mrs.Hazel Deal,Mrs.Grace Keith.
The minutes of September 14,1964 were read and approved.
The report of the treasurer for September and. for the quarter
ending September 30 were received.The balance on the latter
date was $1471.65.
The report of the librarian for September showed a total circula-
tion of 10,372,registra.tions 132,and a total book stock for the
quarter ending September 30 of 15,395,of which 9041 are adult
and 6354 are juvenile books.
The librarians reported on the matter of delinquent book borrowers
that has become a serious problem.The board discussed methods of
solving the problem,and as a preliminary measure decided to take
advantage of Mr.'vVylie's offer to make an announcement in the
Northwest Arkansas Times concerning the importance of the return
of books on time,especially in view of the fact that they are city
or county property.
The chairman and Mr.MeMillen were instructed to draw up a form
letter to be sent to local attorneys,requesting them,whenever
they could conveniently do so,to call the attention of their
clients to the needs of the library on the occasion of the making
of their wills.
It was voted. to pay Mrs.Keithts expenses to the meeting of the
State Library Board in Little Rock on October 21-24.
The meeting adjourned at 5:36 p.m.
