It has come to the attention of the Board that the late B.J*Arbon
had mentioned the City Library and other local institutions in
his will at one time;tha.t the provisions had been repeated in
subsequent wills on more than one occasion;but that the will had
been changed shortly before his death, leaving out the City Library
and the other local institutions under circumstances making it a
matter of contest in the opinion of local attorneys.Having been
asked whether we would join these other institutions in the
matter of contesting the will, the Board passed the following
motion, proposed by Mr..Wylie and seconded by Mr.Shelton; That the
Board of Trustees of the City Library will participate in contest
Ing the will of the late B.J.Arbon if the other institutions
concerned begin the legal proceedings.
The report of the Librarian for April was received.Mrs.neal
pointed out that the circulation for the month was 11,409 and
registrations 98.
Mrs.Keith reported that during the six months trial period of
keeping the library open from five to six in the afternoon some
2,460 persons had been counted there during the four days open
at that hour. The motion was made by Mrs.Chaney and seconded by
Mr*Wylie that the Library continue to remain open at that hour
on Monday through Thursday as a. policy. The motion carried.
