Minutes of March 16,1964
The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Public Library met in regular
session on March 1601964 at 4:p.m.in the Directorsâ–ş room.Present were
Chairman Webb Williams,Mrs®Lowell Chaney,Mr.Ellis Shelton,Mr.Ted Wylie,
Mr.O.W.MeMillen,and Librarians:Mrs.Hazel Deal and Mrs.Grace Keith.
It is noted that the City Council appointed Mrs.Lowell Chaney and
Mr.O.W.McMillen to continue on the Board with six-year terms.Since the
complement of the Board was now officially complete,the following offi-
cers were elected:Mr.Webb Williams,Chairman;Mrs.Lowell Chaney,Treasurer;
Mr.O.W.MeMillen,Secretary.
Mr.Williams reported on matters connected with a service contract for
the elevator,but definite action was not taken at this time,pending
further information about certain details.
The minutes of February 10,1964 were read and approved.
The Chairman was authorized to make arrangements concerning yard work
for the summer season.
It was reported that the sum of $250 was donated to the Book Endowment
Fund by the Women's Civic Club and a like sum by Mr.Clinton W.Bates in
memory of his parents,Earle and Lela Bates.Appropriabe notation of both
gifts will be made on. the Book Endowment Fund plaque and the Secretary
will write letters of appreciation..
It was voted to authorize Mrs.Deal to order a record player from the
Stanley Sound Service of North Little Rock at a cost of $125.20 and
also to order a glass cover for the table in the Director 4 room at a
cost not to exceed $25.
The Board received the February report of Mrs.Deal on circulation,
registration of library patrons,and petty cash.It is noted that the
total circulation of 13,742 was an increase of 1,448 over February
of last year.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
