The Board of Trustees of the Fayetteville Library met at the P,it. Inn at
12:OOPM August 30, 1963,
Present were Mr. Webb Williams, lar. Ted Wylie, Nir. Ellis Shelton, Tar.
0. W. McMillen, Mrs. Lowell Chaney, Mrs. Hazel Deal and ass. J.I. Keith.
N1rs. :Deal Stated the Library was now in a position to stay open One hour
longer per day the first four days of the week. Members of the staff are
willing to cooperate by staggering their hours coming to work one hour
later in the morning and staying one -hour later in the evening.
It vas agreed that the Book Endowment Fund be establised at the earliest
possible
date and that
publicity be given
this
project. Interest
on the
endot,j-ment
fund will be
used to replace in
part
the amount
formerly
provided
by the United Fund, Inc.
Mrs. DEal reported the elevator still will not operate properly so the
Board decided to call on Mr. Boyd en masse to learn what could be done
to alleviate the situation. /-Iso the leaks in the auditorium be called
to Mr. Boyd's attention once again. It AFs decided that Mr. Johnson be
asked -to repair the doors which continue to drag.
Mr. McMillen moved that the Board apporve employment of Marilyn McClendon
who will serve mostly as a children"s Librarian. Motion seconded by Mr.
Wylie and passed.
The children's reading was pronounced the most successful the Library
has ever had.
