MINUTES FOR JAN. 24, 1963
Thu Board of the Fayetteville Library met in the Director's room at 4:00 P.M.
January 24, 1963. Present were Mr. Webb Williams, Mr. Ted Wylie, 1r. Ellis
Shelton, I,1r. O. 'ftiY. McMillen, Mrs. Lowell Chaney and Mrs. Hazel Deal.
Minutes were read and approved. The Treasurer reported receipts for 1962 t
totaled $18,652.06. Total expenditures were $18,-043.75 leaving a balance
of $608.31. The equipment fund has a balance of $5812.74.
Mrs. Deal Reported a book circulation of 128,771, an increase of 18,394 over
last year. Total registration of new members was 1530. The Fayetteville
Library now owns a bookstock of 14,536. There are 90D5 books on loan from
the Washington County Library at this time.

The foll�ing have been employed as new staff members:
1. Mrs.'Anne Moore who is to work full time beginning the first of February,
with a leave of absence during June, July & August.
2. Mrs. Dorothy Burge for part time service beginning Feb. 1, 1963.
. Tess. Mary Smith for part time service
4.Suzanne Carr will have charge of the summer reading program.
The Board voted to .give Mrs. Carol Wright a nine months leave of absence to
continue her education in Library School,
Mrs. Deal Announced an exhibit of children's books is scheduled fovthe third
week in February and wrill be conducted as in the past. Filen strips on How
To Use The Library will be shown in all the elementary schools prior to the
exhi.bi t .
Plans for a program for National L4brary week were discussed.
