HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-11-20 MinutesFAYETTEVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES FOR NOV.20, 1962 The Library Board met Tuesday November 20, 1962 at 4 p. m. inthe Director's room at the Library. Present were Mr. Webb Williams, Mr. Ellis Shelton, Mr. 0. W. McMillen, Pars. Lowell Chaney, Mrs. Hazel Deal and Mrs. J. I. Keith. Mr. Williams presented an estimate from Brennan -Boyd Construction Co. to enclose the Book -Mobile Space for the sum of $951.00. Mr. Shelton moved that this estimate be accepted. Mr. McMillen seconded the motion and it passed. An estimate of $195.00 for two concrete benches was rejected. It was felt adequate benches could be obtained for a lesser amount. A -report of a fire prevention inspection by the Fayetteville Fire Department was presented and inspected by Board members. Corretions are being made to comply with recommendations. R Mrs. Deal made a report to the Library Board concerning circulation versus size of staff. In view of the 4.5.71%b increase of circulation it was felt an increase in staff would be necessary if satisfactory library service is to be maintained. A copy of the report is filed with the minutes, Pairs. Deal reported therehad been complaints regarding Library rules for use of the book " ®ne Hundred Years in Fayetteville"by W. S. Campbell. This is avaluable book now out of print necessitating that it's use be restricted. The Board directed the staff to con- tinue with the established regulations. Mr. Williams announced that the Arkansas Western Gas Company was making a gift og several gas lights to aid in lighting the premises of the Library. They will also install them free of charge. Mxs. Chaney told the Board that the Garden Clubs of Fayetteville C_ would decorate the Library for Christmas and would include it on their annual tour. Meeting adjourned at 5:4.5 P. m. 1
