HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-07-02 MinutesROBERTA FULBRIGHT PUBLIC LIBRARY JULY 2, 1962 MINUTES The Library Board met July 2, 1962 at 4:00 p.m. in the Directors Room of the Library. Present were Mr. Webb Williams, Mr. Ted Wylie, Mr. Ellis Shelton, Mrs. Lowell Chaney. Also Present were Mr. Warrem Segraves, Mrs. Hazel Deal and Mrs. J. I. Keith. The final estimate of the Brennan -Boyd Construction Co. in the amount of $3528.00 was presented for approval. Mr. Shelton's motion that this be accepted was seconded by Mr. Wylie passed. The Board approved a request of $2000.00 from the United Fund . This amount is needed for the purchase of more books. Mrs. Keith reported that the circulation o books reached an all timehigh of 15 000 during the month of June. Shed' -this was man increase of approxi. mately 2500* books over June of 1961. She state?7n enrollment of 4.50 children for the reading program with an attendance of 4.28 during a 4 week period. She further noted that 473 new library memberships had been issued and of that number 131 were for persons who had used t1r library in former years but had been unable to use it it recent years mostly because of it's upstairs location. Mr. Williams reported Mr. Clarence Tune would be willing to fill the Reflection Pool With 4 inches of gravel and 6 inches of top soil with a topping ofmarble chips for the sum of $250.00. No action blas taken on this offer. Mrs. Deal stated that Mrs. Ila Newbern had accepted a permanent position on the Fayetteville Library staff at a salary of $24.00.00 a year. &I The folling regulations were tentatively adopted regarding use of the auditoril.um: 1. The Library shall have precedence over all organizations for the use of hhe auditorium at all times. 2The auditorium may be used free of charge dyrjhi— the:ih6u.,:,�s the Library is open by qualified Civic Cultural and Educational Groups. No refreshments to be served. 3Small groups or Committees of not more than 12 or 15 may use the Directors Room free of charge during the hours the Library is open. 4. Yearly standing reservations will not be acceptable, but must be made en each occasion t e_ auditorium is to be used. aw 5. The Library shall not be used for Commercial purposes. 6. The Library auditorium may not be used for church services, fraternal meet- ings, political rallies or for social purposes. I , t7. In as much as,the citizens of Fayetteville have provided a _. building for the use of the young people, the Library auditorium shall be for the use of adults only.
