May 19,1953 `
F'p The Fayetteville Public Library Board met on May 19,1953 in the Library rooms.The meet-
ing was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by 1�?.MctJhorter,who presided.
Members present were Mr.Mcraho-rter,Miss VauLx, rs.Chaney,Icir.Greenhaw, Ivir.Rudolph, and
Mr.McMillen. Mrs,Dea1 was also present. _
The minutes of February 3 were read and approved.
The Treasureran,l.n1925.39 on May 1,1953.
A resolution,presented by Mr.Greenhaw,authorizing employees of the Fayetteville Public
Library,Inc.to qualify for social security benefits was unanimously approved by the Board.
The resolution is filed with these minutes.
The matter of a library building fund was referred to Ilr.Greenhaw for study and. report
at the September meeting of the Board.
The Librarian reported total circulation, figures for the past four months to be as follows:
January 5640,February 5495,11arch 5773,April 5985;the latter figure was 265 more than the high-
est figure of the same months of 1952•
The Librarian also reported on the summer reading program planned for Jur_e,July,and
August.The program is sponsored jointly, by the Library,the public schools,and the PTA. The
latter organization will give the children a party the last weep in August at Harmon Play
Field,at which time prizes and certificates will be given.
