July 10,1951
The Fayetteville Public Library Board held its regular monthly
meeting on July 10,1951 at 7:00 p.m.in the Library rooms.Mr.MeWhorter
presided.'
Members present were Mr.McWhorter,Mrs.Watson,Mrs.Chaney,Mrs.Adkisson,
Mr.Wilson,Mr.Rudolph,and Mr.McMillen.Mrs.Deal also met with the Board.
The minutes.of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Treasurer reported a balance of $2566.21 in the First National
Bank for June.
Mrs.Deal reported on the Summer Reading Program in connection with
the public schools summer reading for the children.Lists of suggested
books had been made for each grade.Prizes were given in each room for the
one reading most books.Mrs.Adkisson' suggested the possibility of this pro-
gram being extended to include the High School.
It was voted that Mrs.Deal be requested to choose a suitable gift for
Barbara Bennett in appreciation of services rendered in the story hour at
the Library.
Mrs.Deal read some of the most interesting items from the Annual Re-
port of the County Library showing the great progress that it is now mak-
ing.The circulation for the year was 171,522,which represented an increase
of 36,000.
Mrs.Watson reported on the installation of fluorescent lights with
the help of the Women's Civic Club.
Adjourned to meet in September or on prior call of the chairman.
