January 13,1951
The Fayetteville public Library Board held its regular monthly
meeting on January 18,1951 at 7:66 p.m. in the Library rooms.
Mr.McWhorter presided.
Members present were Mr.MeWhorter,Miss Vaulx,Mrs.Swartz,Mrs.Watson,
Mrs.Chaney,Mr.Meriwether,Mr.Greenhaw,a.nd. Mr.MeMillen. Mrs.Deal,Countyy
L3brarian,and. Mrs. Vinsonheller,retring Treasurer,were also present.
The minutes of December 12,1950 were and approved.
The Treasurer's report showed a balance in the First National Bank
of $2753.79.
The Librarian's report showed a total circulation of 3,265,a slight
increase over Novsmber.The total circulation for the corresponding month
in 1949 was 2701.

Mrs.Deal suggested doing something for the high school children,per-
ha.ps something of the nature of a book r_eview.In this connection
Mrs.Swartz told about the xistence of a grog- in high school called the:
Teen Age Book Group.
Mrs.Deal also reported on the interest thst children in the Lincoln
School have in certain books that make a special appeal to them.
Mr.Greenhaw,reporting for the House Committee,ststed the_t the shades
for the Library windows had. come and were ready to be put up but that
first the windows should be put in order.The cost would be about $3.50 a
window without weather -stripping -It was voted that Mr.Greenhaw work with
the mayor with refsrenae to the windows and that the sum of about $35 or
$010 be appropriated for the purpose.
It was voted that Mrs.Vinsonheller be instructed, to transfer the
bonds belonging to the Library to the First National Bank for safe -keeping
end that the numbers of the bonds be reported to the; Treasurer,Mrs.Chaney,
and to the Secretary for record.

Minutes of the Annual Meeting
January 19, 1951
The annual meeting of the Fayetteville Public Library Associa-
tion was held -on January . 18,,1951 in the Library rooms. Th.e President,
Mr.''alter McIlh.orter,pro sided. "
TheĀ® minutes of the preceding annual meeoting were read. and approved.
The annual report of Whe Treasurer showed that they Library had
the sum of $4,665.06 in total assets.
The Librarian,Mrs.Deal,reported the progress of the work of the
Library throughout the pant yea.r,touching on such matters as circulation,
p ersonnel,and genAral service.The total circulation of adult books was
17,625;that for Juvenile bookn was 15,789;the total for.the ,year was
33,414,probably the highest in the hietory of the Library.The three
months of August,November,and. December had each more than 3200 total
circulation.
Mr.F.L.Wilson was unanimously elected to fill the unexpired term
of the Reverened Paul Bumpers on the Board.
The following persons were elected unanimously as members of the
Board for three year terms:
Mr.Leonard Greenhaw
Dr.Leighton Rudolph
Mrs.V.W.Adkisson.
It wRs voted to do away with the five cent charge for checking; out

Organizational
January 18,1951
The :Fayetteville Public Library Board held an organizational
meeting on January 18,1951 after the adjournment of the meeting of
Public Library Association.
Mr.Mcllhorter presided.
Members present were Mr.McWhorter,Miss Vaulx,Mrs-Wa.tson,Mrs.Chaney,
Mr.Greenhaw,and Mr.McMillen.Also present were Mrs.Deal and retiring mem-
bers of the Board,Mrs.Vinsonheller,Mrs.Swartz,and Mr.Meriwether.
Officers for the year were elected as follows:
President Mr.W.E.McWhorter
Vice President Mr.Leonard Greenhaw
Secretary Mr. 0. W.McMillen
Treasurer Mrs -.Lowell Chaney
A rising vote of thanks was given to the retiring members of the
Board for their faithful services to the work of the Library.
Mr.Mc'Nhorter appointed Mr.Greenhaw chairman of the House Committees.
The other committee appointments will be announced at the next meeting.
